Confronting Abuse and Loving Kids!
Annually, 3.6 million cases of child abuse, neglect or abandonment are reported in America.
One of these victims dies every six hours due to that abuse. But you can make a difference — through your support of your local Royal Family KIDS of Franklin County.
Since 2002, we have been creating positive memories for abused, abandoned and neglected children. In Ohio, thousands of children have been removed from their homes and placed in the foster care system because of severe abuse or neglect. For these little ones, life has become a living nightmare. Royal Family Kids’ Camp is a one-week residential camp designed to meet the needs of these precious children.
Royal Family KIDS is an international organization of volunteers who mentor, guide and support children who come from trauma since 1985. Our goal is to intervene in their lives and provide the guidance, structure and love so that they can avoid the common pitfalls for children who have been placed in the foster care system; such as teenage pregnancy, homelessness, substance abuse and prison.
RFK of Franklin County is a key partner with Franklin County Children Services. FCCS continually recognizes RFK’s value and have presented us the Executive Director’s Award for Voluntary Service and the Community Advocate Award.
There were almost 10,000 reports of child abuse in Franklin County last year… and that is just Franklin County. Research say abused children are more likely to drop out of high school, become teenage parents, become incarcerated, and less likely to complete college.
We believe our programs support the development of young people in foster care so they can become healthy, successful member of the Central Ohio community.
God’s love is modeled consistently, through the games, sports, activity centers, bible stories, drama and quiet times the campers share with their counselors. Camp volunteers receive twelve hours of targeted training to prepare them to work with the campers.
