GET INVOLVED

For every counselor willing to spend the entire week at camp, another camper is able to attend. Training is mandatory. Counselors arrive at camp the day before the campers to prepare the cabins and welcome the campers as they arrive. Each counselor is responsible for two campers in order to provide the very best care for our campers. One assistant counselor works with every two regular counselors.

Kids deserve an excited adult. They need someone who’s ready to explore and laugh with them all day – someone who’s looking for those magic moments, full of High Fives coming down the line with energy radiating all around.

Our kids have far more issues to deal with at home than many of us realize. They want and need us to come to camp ready to surround them with love, encouragement and hope.

Leave your problems in your car. Take a deep breath and focus on the positive. Kids need the best you! Step out and be your best. Be awesome! Our kids deserve it!!

Maybe you don’t have a full week but you can help us Monday morning. The kids come in for registration, we give them a name badge and a new tee shirt. We take their picture and allow them to spend time with the therapy dogs. So if you have time from 7 am until about noon on Monday, can you help?

When was the last time you had a birthday party? One of our friends, who was in foster care as a child told us that the last time he had a birthday was the year before he went into the foster care system.
Sometimes when you are moving from house to house, no one remembers your birthday.
We love having extra people come out during the party to help with the carnival games, or to run the inflatable games, or even help us and make the birthday cakes!

Training for 2020 – two choices

– April: Friday evening, 4/23 and Saturday, 4/24
– May: Friday, 5/14 and Saturday, 5/15
Timings: Friday nights from 7 pm – 9:30 pm
Saturdays from 8 am – 5:30 pm
Note: Returnee’s only need to attend the Saturday training from 11:30 am – 5:30 pm

During even years the kids build their bottle rocket from 2 two liter pop bottles during their time in the Activity Center. Then they get a chance shoot them into the clouds!

Then in the odd years we build two Water balloon catapults and shoot water balloons at each other. We give them a challenge, if they can “catch” the water balloon, then they can shoot it back. Ok so everyone gets wet!!

Each year we have a new theme and drama that runs all 5 days. The kids love it and as you can tell, we love doing it.

This picture is from the Sheepfold Drama, which shares the story of the Good Shepherd.
The story of Esther occurs during our Royal theme.
Then we have the story of Joseph, which the kids can really relate to since someone took them out of their home and put them into “slavery/foster care”.
The next drama is the Construction theme where we talk about a firm foundation to build our house on.
And every four years we have the Olympic theme with a drama about running the race fairly, and no cheating with those fancy Rocket shoes!

So are you handy with wood and can cut a straight line? Or maybe you don’t know how to hammer a nail. But if you are willing to help a young man or young lady build a birdhouse or bug house, you can make a difference in the their life.
Come to camp and become Tim the Toolman or possibly Woodchuck Chuck!

The boys & girls “LOVE IT”. Armed with big nets and creek, the big and little boys get their feet wet and find the underwater creatures!
Would you like to get you feet wet this year? Our boys & girls need someone that wants to have fun with them!

The girls dress up, pick out a fancy hat and join their counselor to try crumpets and tea.
